trying to get any and all information of my mom's side of the family! my greatgrand parents raymond and elizabeth hill! both born in dobbs ferry ny, his dob is feb.1889. her is april 20 1889. they married about1918, he was a sheriff or deputy in whiteplains ny, he was also a finger print expert, he died in april 1929, after his passing she work for the phone company, they had 4 children, leo, virginia, philip, and raymond, leo was killed in WWII, 2-14-1945, in belguim, virginia married john e brown and moved to brushville pa abt 1950, philip married phillis ?, had 3-4 children and i believe he now lives in fishkill, ny, the youngest raymond became a priest, when he died (9-27-91) he was the superior general of maryknoll!! i don't know if anyone can help me find information, obtiuaries, articles, anything i would be so greatful, i know there is much newspaper info on my greatgrandfather, because at one time when i was quite young my grandmother (virginia) had albums and scrapbooks filled with his furneral info, cases he had work on, and the coverage of his death and funeral was unbelievably hugh! my greatgrandmother passed away 5-3-1961! i do know that his (raymond sr.) parents names were john and catherine hill (john was also a sheriff or deputy as were most of his sons), ans i know that elizabeth's parents were william and mary short. i know this letter is so very long, and i don't even know if i am writing to the right place where someone can help me i just don't know where or how to look! you see i am a greatgranddaughter who never was lucky enough to have known them, i also know that they are a part of my family that i can be so very proud of. you see part of the reason that i am looking so hard is because of my mom, she never knew her grandfather, was crazy about her grandmother who almost made her grandfather come to life in the stories she would tell. no one in the family has either one of their obituaries, and i have not been able to find them. so i guess what i am doing writing this long letter to people i don't even know is hoping and praying that someone, someday will be able to and want to help me! i am truly sorry if i have bothered anyone with this letter, but i just had to try! sincerely. elizabeth slocum
