Notes:
I am researching my Griffith family. I know my Griffith family was in KY. I hope that someone will be able to help me in my search.
I have hit a wall at my GGGF, James Griffith. Griffith relatives who are also researching James Griffith concur that his birthdate was around 1780-1790. Family origins before KY have been cited as MD, VA, or PA. The parents of James Griffith are unknown. His death date and burial site are unknown, although the year of his death is generally accepted as being around 1839. Listed below are the few facts I have discovered about James Griffith. I hope that if you find any commonalities in your research you will let me know.
KNOWN: James Griffith (sometimes spelled Griffey, Griffits) married Jane Rose of Muhlenberg County about 1811. They resided at one time or another in Muhlenberg County, Ohio County and Todd County, KY. in the late 16th-mid 17th c. Their adult offspring scattered and moved off to the afore-mentioned counties to raise their families.
KNOWN: Children of the above mentioned James and Jane Griffith are: Samuel A. (b. 1813), Lewis L. (b. 1815), Nancy A.(b. 1820), Nathaniel B. (b. 1828), William H. (b. 1831), and Lenox W. (b. 1835) (All born in Pond Creek, Muhlenberg County, KY).
KNOWN: My grandfather, James C. Griffith is the grandson of James Griffith. My grandfather James C. Griffith (b. 1859 in Muhlenberg County, KY) , and his brother, Samuel A., lived in and worked as coal miners in Beaver Dam, Ohio County, KY during the 1880's. James C. Griffith m. Bobbie Murdock in 1880. Around 1910, my grandfather, James C. Griffith, moved to Memphis, TN with his brother, Samuel A., and his sister Martha Eloise . James C. and Samuel worked for the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1910, James C. married a 2nd time. James C., age 51, married Vina Brashier. My father is their child.
KNOWN: Given names that reoccur in the Griffith family throughout following generations: William, Samuel A., Lewis, James, Nancy A., Wilson and Nathaniel
KNOWN: The parents of Jane Rose are Lenox and Sarah Rose of Muhlenberg County. Lenox Rose moved to KY from Montgomery Co., Maryland. Death dates and burial sites of the Roses are unknown. The will of Lenox Rose went through probate in Muhlenberg County Jan.,1838.
KNOWN: A partial list of families that moved from Montgomery County, Maryland to KY during the late 1700's, and have been associated with the Rose and James Griffith family in KY is as follows: William & Polly (maiden name: Rose) Casebier, Charles Whitehouse, William Fereday, Bell, and Row.

John Wesley GRIGGS was born in 1757 in Antrim County, Ireland. He died in 1820 in Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina. He was buried in 1820 in Griggs Farm Cemetery 1, Dead Falls Creek, Anson Co, North Carolina. He married Frances RUSHING about 1780 or 1794 (2 conflicting records)in Near Wadesboro, North Carolina.
He is my gggggg grandfather. I am trying to find his roots in Ireland, and when he immigrated & where into the USA.
Also, could have been a change/misspelling of name when he immigrated. Could have originally been:"Greg(g)"
Not an uncommon event.
