CHAMBLEE,
Country: France
State: Chamblee?
Date Submitted: July 25, 2005
Notes:
Daddy was born in Live Oak, Florida (Not the one in Central Florida)in 1881. He was born in a small community in Washington, Co. Florida on October 12, 1881, but his parents were born in France, and his father and his brothers and sisters were also born there. They came to America through Ireland, but we don't know what year. It must have been in the 1700s. The only brother my husband ever knew of his father's was George and he was older than John because my husband said George was in the first WW, but Daddy was too young. Both brothers had the middle name of William. There were other brothers and sisters of George and John and their father had brothers too. They originally settled in Georgia and some migrated to Florida. John and George's father married a Cherokee indian maid before moving to Florida. John William Chamblee had three wives before his death and had five children with the first wife, two with the second, and my husband and his sister with the third. My husband is also related to the Spencer's and the Goodwin's. He remembers his cousins Macie and Cecil Goodwin and his Aunt Audrey, but can't remember any for Mattie Spencer. Comes from getting older I expect and not thinking it was important enough to write things down earlier. My husband's name is Elton Chamblee and his sister's name is Loraine and are from John William's third wife Christian. Daddy passed away in 1960 and I only got to know him for 2 years, but sat on his front porch and talked to him everytime we were there. He was a wonderful man and I'm glad I got to know him. Elton, or, LD as his family and I have always called him and I will have been married for 47 years next February 23rd. I'm trying to go as far back as I can to leave my children with as much information on their family tree as I can.
